How 【When Paired】 works
【When Paired】 fires when any Pilot is paired with this Unit — no link condition required. That's the difference from 【When Linked】: pairing is the physical act of putting a Pilot under the Unit; linking additionally requires the Pilot to match the Unit's link requirement. Every link is a pair, but not every pair is a link.
Because any Pilot triggers it, 【When Paired】 effects are more flexible rewards — even an off-archetype Pilot cashes them in, and Commands with a Pilot effect can do the pairing too.
