How 【Destroyed】 works

A 【Destroyed】 effect fires when the Unit is destroyed — by battle damage or by an effect; both count. The effect resolves as the Unit leaves the field: return a paired Pilot to hand, deal parting damage, search, or whatever the card lists. It's value you're owed whether the opponent trades with the Unit or removes it.

【Destroyed】 often appears combined with a state condition, like 【During Pair】【Destroyed】 or 【During Link】【Destroyed】 — the official FAQs treat these as one gated trigger: it only fires if the Unit was in that state (paired / linked) at the moment it was destroyed.

Playing around it

Destroyed triggers make removal and blocks cost extra — the classic play pattern against them is anything that neutralizes without destroying: bounce, rest, stat reduction, or simply ignoring the Unit. If you must destroy it, do it when the parting gift matters least.
