How 【Deploy】 works

A 【Deploy】 effect fires once, when the card enters the field. It doesn't matter how it got there — played from hand or put into play by another effect, arriving is what counts. Deploy effects are the game's 'enters the battlefield' value: draw, removal, tokens, or buffs stapled to a body.

Because it fires on arrival, a 【Deploy】 effect happens before the Unit has done anything else — you get the value even if the Unit is answered immediately afterward. That makes Deploy bodies the safest place to put must-have effects.

Playing around it

You generally can't stop a Deploy effect by killing the Unit — the effect already resolved. Playing against Deploy-heavy decks is about denying the *repeat* value: effects that bounce a Unit back to hand let its owner re-buy the Deploy, so removal that trashes or shuffles is worth more against them.
