How 【Deploy】 works

A 【Deploy】 effect fires once, when the card enters the field. How it got there doesn't matter; played from hand or put into play by another effect, arriving is what counts. Deploy is where the game puts its arrival value: draw, removal, tokens or buffs stapled to a body.

Because it fires on arrival, the effect happens before the Unit has done anything else, so you still get the value if the Unit is answered right away. Deploy bodies are the safest place to hang an effect you can't afford to miss.

Playing around it

Killing the Unit usually doesn't stop a Deploy effect, since it has already resolved. What you can deny is the *repeat*. Bouncing a Unit back to hand lets its owner re-buy the Deploy, so removal that trashes or shuffles is worth more against these decks.
